OKAN KAYA – Composer & Bassist
Born in 1982 in Ankara, Turkey, Okan is a versatile musician with a background in classical music and a degree from the Opera Department at Anadolu University State Conservatory. He is a founding member of Gevende and Büyük Ev Ablukada, performing at international festivals such as Vomex, PopKomm, BabelMed, Mimi, and London Pulse, and releasing multiple acclaimed albums.
He has toured extensively, including a 6,000 km journey through Iran, Pakistan, India, and Nepal, collaborating with local musicians in diverse settings. Between 2006 and 2024, he has performed as bassist with jazz and improvisation ensembles like Bilal Karaman Trio, Cenk Erdoğan Trio, Kam, and Cihan Kahvecioğlu Quintet.
He is currently continuing live stage performances with Hissikablelvuku.
Since 2005, he has composed music for films, Disney & Netflix series, theater productions, and commercials, blending classical training, contemporary improvisation, and multimedia composition in his work.
